Even though anchor bolts and construction fasteners can be seen as two different entities, there are some similarities between both of them.

Both anchor bolts and construction fasteners have to meet the requirements and quality standards laid down by the government. In the anchor bolt industry both A.B.s and C.F.s have to be tested rigorously in order to ensure that they are completely safe and up to par on regulations. This means testing the tensile strength and shear values in order to make sure that the anchor bolt or construction fastener doesn’t break immediately upon force or even over time due to fatigue.

Construction fasteners are responsible for determining the life and usefulness of many different objects including:

- Machines
- Factories
- Vehicles
- Residential

Of course there is a difference between commercial and construction fasteners and the fasteners that you use in your home. The main difference between the two is that construction fasteners are actually quite a bit heavier and sturdier in comparison to something you would use in your home.

Construction fasteners have a wide range of uses that include commercial use, residential use, and industrial. construction fasteners are used everywhere in almost every project, from small buildings to the tallest skyscrapers.

These construction fasteners include things like nuts, bolts, pins, screws, and hinges. All of these areas can be considered fasteners.

With new construction fasteners being created and produced each day, new uses for construction fasteners are constantly popping up. These tools are high effective in helping contractors and builders secure one surface to another.

Not only are these fasteners available to contractors and builders through a manufacturing level, the smaller cousins of these fasteners are available to consumers in hardware stores and similar venues. These are only the pre-made fasteners, construction fasteners also have the ability to be custom made for any application as well.

Yes construction fasteners can been seen as a few different things. There are some that would say that they are no different than anchor bolts and there are those that would argue and say that construction fasteners are in a class all their own. This isn’t about who is the right party; these posts are assuming that the two are different and that you would like to know more about construction fasteners in the separate meaning of the word.

Below are a few different bolt style that you would commonly see when working with construction fasteners.

- Flat Head

- Oval Head

- Fillister

- Holt Head

- One-Way Head

In any case, these bolts can be used with a variety of nuts in order to make the perfect construction fastener.

There are tons of nut styles, and I could list them all right here, but unless you want to be reading this same post 20 minutes later, I feel I should refrain from doing so. Instead, I am going to mention the major nut styles and some information about each.

All of these nut styles can be used with a mated bolt screw in order to complete the set.

- Cap Nut – These nuts are used when you don’t want to see the end of the screw or bolt. They are mostly used for decorative finish work and can be spotted by the rounded head.

- Castle Nut – Named for their castle keep-like appearance these nuts are well suited for use with cotter pins.

- Coupling Nut – These nuts look like elongated tubes and are used for fastening two bolt ends to each other.

- Lock Nut – A lock nut is equipped with a nylon insert. This nylon protects the bolt from loosening by locking up the threads tightly. It can also be called the "aircraft nut".

- Hex Nut – This is the most common of nuts. You’ve seen this one everywhere.

- Tee Nut – These special nuts are for use with wood. They have teeth that recess into wood once screwed in place. This creates a secure lock.

So here we begin. Lets start off with the different types of construction fasteners. Actually, first let me start off by telling you that there are two parts to a construction fastener, the nut and the head. Each of these parts has their own different styles that you can mix and match with each other.

A nut is a piece of metal that has a threaded hole in order to fasten with a mating bolt. There are many different types of nuts that can be used with bolts to make a construction fasteners.

The bolt is a capped screw that is used with a nut in order to fasten one surface to another. The threading on this bolt and the nut are what keeps the construction fastener from coming undone or from unscrewing from the pressure.

Both of these pieces working together are what we use in construction everyday. It’s not just for commercial work either, most people have seen these fasteners in their own homes.

We’ve been talking about anchor bolts for a long time and I feel that it is time to move on to construction fasteners. Although you may think that these two names refer to the same thing, they really don’t. Sure, you can call an anchor bolt a construction fastener and vice versa but if you want to get technical a construction fastener are really nuts and bolts.

The way that an anchor bolt is installed and a construction fastener is are two completely different applications. Each of these devices also has a different use and situation in which they should be used.

Since we’ve covered a lot of ground on anchor bolts and everything that they are used for, how they are made, and the different types, I think it is about time that we switched over topics.

There are a lot of people that may be interested in construction fasteners and want to find out more information about them. Maybe this is you, doing a project at home and needing to know what construction fastener to use, and you’ve happened upon this website. Hopefully, it will be helpful to you.

Anchor bolts, although seemingly simple in appearance, are actually quite complex construction pieces. At first glance you wouldn’t think much of an anchor bolt, its style and design seem uncomplicated and there isn’t much you could think to do with the anchor bolt right off the top of your head. This is the biggest misconception about anchor bolts that there are.

Even though the anchor bolt looks simple in design, there is a rather detailed process that each goes through in order to become an anchor bolt. This process can be found within this resources section in four separate parts (Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV).

Not only is the process of manufacturing anchor bolts a bit complex, but the installation and use of these anchor bolts is just as equally intricate as their creation. There are so many different applications that anchor bolts can be used in, and although their basic intention is the same, there are many ways to install these devices.

Safety also comes into mind. Not only is the installation process somewhat lengthy, you also have to be worried about properly installing these pieces so that they remain where they are and therefore are safely installed.

All of this together makes a seemingly simple anchor bolt into something much more advanced. We use these bolts everyday in many different structures and it is time that we recognized how important these bolts are to the entirety of our social civilization.

Sometimes, it is hard to understand all the different terms that are used when talking about anchor bolts. There are quite a few words that may not have any meaning to the average person. Below is a list of a few words that may have confused you at first.

Anchor bolt – a long, usually L-shaped, bolt embedded in concrete or another strong material for the purpose of fastening to a foundation or other support.

Cut Threading – A process in which material is removed from the end of the bolt in order to create the threading.

Eye Bolt – A bolt that is made with threading on one end and a loop or ring on the other.

Hot Dip Galvanizing – The process of “dipping” fasteners in molten zinc in order to create a coating on the exterior of the bolt. This helps create a resistant coating, allowing the fastener to resist corrosion.

Plain –A fastener that is free from any coatings (such as zinc).

Roll Thread – A process in which the fastener’s threading is made by displacing material using dies. The fastener is created with a reduced diameter in order to compensate for the threading.

Hopefully, these few terms start you on your way to understanding anchor bolts a little bit more than you did before. There are a massive amount of terms that have to do with anchor bolts, but if you start getting into the business, these terms will come to you naturally. The few terms above are just a few to get you started on your way to learning more about anchor bolts.

Along with the multitude of customizations that can be done on anchor bolts during the manufacturing process. There are a few items that can be performed on anchor bolts in order to make them suitable for certain applications.

Stamping – In some situations, the manufacturer’s logo must be stamped onto the anchor bolt in order to properly identify it.

Swedging – This is where indentations are placed along the anchor bolt (on the unthreaded portion). These bolts are commonly used in highway work.

Chamfering – Done to anchor bolts in order to make it easier for a nut to be installed onto the threaded side. On the opposite spectrum, there is also a process to create a point on the unthreaded end of the anchor bolt. This is commonly used for wood installation and similar situations.

Custom Welding – In some cases, custom welding is needed in order to assemble certain custom anchor bolts.

These different applications all have their own reasons why they might be necessary. Most contractors will know if they need to have their bolts altered for any reason. Although, if you are interested in learning more about these different applications and more about the process you can get in touch with an anchor bolt manufacturer.

Anchor bolts are used all over the world in many different projects. In order to find a good manufacturer take a look at their portfolio of projects that they have completed or have had their anchor bolts used in. This is the best way to find out if the manufacturer that you are looking at has had quality anchor bolts that have been used in a multitude of projects. A few of the different categories or projects that many anchor bolt manufacturers may be involved in are:

-	Marine projects (boats, marinas, piers, harbors, etc.)
-	Buildings (towers, hotels, casinos, airports, etc.)
-	Railways
-	Stadiums
-	Power and Energy (windmills, power plants, transformers, etc.)
-	Amusement Parks (roller coasters, steel and wooden)
-	Bridges
-	Industrial
-	International
-	Government Applications

These are, of course, broad categories of all the uses for anchor bolts but they do cover most of the subcategories that anchor bolts are used for.
